Creating And Editing Your Own Google Calendar
Introduction to Google Calendars
Tuesday, August 31, 2010
Some of us can never be organized enough. We put sticky notes all over every conceivable object, from our computer to our desk to our refrigerator. But what if you could put reminders on the Internet, where you can access them any time you have a connection to the web and a computer?
Enter Google Calendars. Now you can make changes to your schedule online with this FREE service. Yes, I did say it is free - hard to believe, but it is the truth.
I personally use Google Calendars to maintain updated information on what I am doing in organizations I am involved in. If you make the Calendar public, anyone can check it out and find out what is going on, so it is ideal for public service organizations and groups that seem to have a hard time keeping in touch.
In addition, you can keep the Calendar private, if you just want a “day planner” that is accessible almost anywhere.
You can also embed a Calendar in a website, so the people that need to update event information can do it without having to know the ins and outs of logging into the website or updating or transferring files.
To enter an event:
1. Click on the day on the small calendar on the left hand side that you want to put your event in.
2. Click on the line to the right of the hour that your event begins.
3. In the balloon that appears, type in the details of your event.
4. Click on the Create Event button.
To edit an event:
1. Click on the name of the event in the Calendar.
2. On the next screen, you may Delete the event, or you may set email reminders for the event, put in more details about the event, or set the event as repeating.
(The repeat event is great for putting in your den meetings or anything else that happens more than once.)
3. Make sure you click on the Save button to save the changes.
Below I have included 2 videos that show how to set up a Google Calendar account and how to edit an existing one. I hope you find them informative.
Have a great day!
